Maakana at Chaaya Island Dhonveli Maakana is named after the Grey Heron, a regular visitor to this location. The circularly structured Maakana restaurant with a view of the surf break and a high cone shaped thatched roof features 'live cooking stations' where guests can watch the chefs preparing fresh cuisine.Raalhu Restaurant and Bar A bar and restaurant with an A la Carte menu, Raalhu adjoins the cascading waves of the internationally famed surf point "The Pasta Point" which has been a venue for international surfing competitions. The restaurant is complete with a pool table, darts, mini library, other indoor games and a deck that extends out into the ocean. The upper floor has a panoramic view of the surf break and the lights of Male at night in the distance. Dolphins and occasionally pilot whales are seen from here, which makes this a vantage point.
Raiyvilaa Sunset Terrace Bar at Chaaya Island Dhonveli Raiyvilaa features an A la Carte menu offering snacks and main meals. On request, even exclusive candle-lit dinners on the beach under a canopy of stars, could be arranged. Since this is the resort's main bar, guests can be certain of being served a wide variety of aperitifs and beverages and even signature cocktails to lift the spirits.

We visited Dhonveli this weekend. The island is known for it’s surfing and has many visitors that visit the island just for the surf experience. One of our friends told us that this was the best place he had ever surfed and he has surfed all over the world.
The staff at Dhonveli were very helpful and quick to respond to any of our needs. I appreciated their attentiveness. I visited with my two children and they had a wonderful time. Even though the play structure and equipment were old the kids had a great time playing in the playground.
The highlight of our trip was watching a family of sharks from our over water bungalow. We also caught a glimpse of dolphins while we were having lunch on our last day.
